Let's be real. Often in our lives we don't know what to say. Giving an honest opinion or offering real advice is a challenge... It's hard for people to hear the truth and certain conversations can be deemed inappropriate. Well, not here... not with me. I'm known for my candor.

The "Thank you" Dinner

Not everyday is wonderful, but today was. My husband and I cooked a 4 course meal with wine pairings for his parents and their best friends. The four of them were monumentally helpful with our wedding last summer and tonight was the night they chose to let us thank them the best way we knew how. It felt really great to spoil them... spoil the people you appreciate.

~They started with a cup of cream of potato and bacon soup followed by an organic greens with baked chevre and a wild berry vinaigrette.
~Prosecco Veneto, Italy.
~ '07 Da Vinci Chianti, Italy
~For a main they enjoyed fillet mignon baked with tomatoes and blue cheese with honey blanched carrots and roasted yukon gold potatoes.
~'05 Masi Campofiorin, Italy.
~The meal finished with a light dessert of layered crispy phyllo pastry, lemon custard and fresh berries.
~Grand Marnier and Oso Negro espresso.

I was thinking... We no longer pay attention to the quality of food we eat and share, we can't continue filling our bodies with growth hormones and pesticides! I am a supporter of the free range/organic movement. Instead of buying an ipod touch when you already have a nano, spend the few extra dollars on healthy food! Or even better? Help those who have nothing go to bed with a full tummy tonight. Go to Food for the Poor USA or your local food bank.

The Introduction

This is my husband and I, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner out together @ BiBo in Nelson, BC.

There are few things better than food and wine with the one you love... sex is one of those things, but moms know it takes a few weeks to get back into the physical state necessary for vaginal penetration post delivery. So dinner out had to do for me! Bring the baby, but feed it until it passes out before you go! Relax and enjoy your romantic and quiet time as a new family. Go to your favorite restaurant, order three courses and wine, and show off your beautiful new baby. We have our best conversations over an intimate dinner.

~We had a tasting board of local artisan cheeses and an amazing bison carpaccio, followed by a light angel hair alfredo to share.
